They say it's only a matter of time, right. Well at least it was in the solitude of my garage, and not out in front of a bunch of witnesses!!

So, rushing around for winter prep. Set the Storm's dolly up, rolled the big Bird back. But had to make an adjustment in the position of the dolly...leaned the Bird onto the sidestand!

Except....

The friggin' sidestand was UP!!! Out of caution, I rarely move this thing around without it down. Except this time.

So OVER she went. All 750lbs, but I "caught" it before anything more than a "thud"! Nearly tore my left hamstring doing it. So heave her back upright, sidestand down. All looks good. Can't even see where she made contact.

For grins let's check shifting through the gears

Doh....nada! Nuthin'! Neutral only. Buggered the shift lever (not the linkage). So another winter project on the schedule!!

Frickinfracking summabitch!!

Lesson learned....don't change your routine, even in a "hurry"...eventually, it'll bite ya in the backside.

Do you recall the super human strength you had when you picked it back up?

I've had my Bird since march 2013, this year I dropped my baby for the first time while stopped along the side of (PCH) Pacific Coast Highway at Bixby Bridge last August. I had been stopped and visiting with friends after traveling from Cambria, Ca. then while getting ready to ride my right foot slipped on gravel and over I went, before I could get out from under the bird fellow riders were off their Triumphs and helping me and the bird back up. Nothing was really said, I said thanks and we were all back on the road, heading to Carmel By The Sea.

Traditionally when they take a rest even with Triumph crash bars ( If they hit the ground) to the LHS they bend the gearlever in and generally bend the Tip or the End of the Clutch lever around. When they go right they on bend the Tip or the End of the brake lever. All of which can be easily straightened.
The gear lever with a vice and a bit of Hammer persuasion will bring it back straight. The Clutch and brake levers can also be straightened by clamping them in a vice and very gently applying some heat from the likes of a propane gun and at the same time very gently bend the end of the levers back into their correct position.

Also check the tips of the outside of the Mufflers as they generally also make contact.

Mine has had a couple of sleeps.

GerPa - no damage to clutch lever or, surprisingly, the LH silencer.

But I will be trying to bend the gear lever. Just hope it's that simple!!!! Hate to have to dig into it too far!!

Yep...it's called pure adrenaline and being completely pissed off!!!! I was fortunate to not have it go "full over". My super-human strength and the gear lever kept it at a manageable lift angle, rather than fully on it's side!

Thanks, Mac! Mine's an '11, so it would fit. Just need to get around to taking it off and seeing if I can heat it up and straighten it out. Haven't looked too terribly closely, but doesn't look too bad. Just enough to be out of adjustment....I HOPE!

I'll hit you up if it comes to that! But much appreciated!!
